31 July 2023, Milton Keynes, UK: IMServ Europe Ltd (IMServ), the UK’s leading energy data collection and metering specialist, has acquired Power Data Associates Ltd, a specialist meter administrator providing unmetered services to the electricity, gas and water utilities and non-domestic energy customers.

By adding its expertise in the unmetered segment of the market, Power Data Associates augments IMServ’s existing proposition as the market leader in energy data collection, advanced meter infrastructure (AMI) and smart metering.

The acquisition supports IMServ’s ambition to empower UK businesses to use energy more efficiently and intelligently through greater data visualisation as the country works to decarbonise its economy.

Power Data Associates will continue to operate as a standalone company, with all current employees and senior leadership retained. Services to existing customers will remain unchanged.

Steve Brown, CEO of IMServ, said: “We are delighted to welcome Power Data Associates and its employees to the IMServ group. Together, we can offer a stronger combined proposition and ensure the highest level of service to our customers across both their metered and unmetered sites, giving a true view of their entire energy data.”

Tom Chevalier, Managing Director, Power Data Associates, added: “This is a big step for Power Data Associates and unlocks exciting new opportunities for us. At this time, I want to thank everyone at Power Data Associates and our business partners that have helped bring us to this point, and I hope they share my excitement about what comes next for the company within the IMServ family. I look forward to adding our expertise and experience to IMServ’s already impressive proposition.”

Power Data Associates specialises in providing services to help customers manage their unmetered energy usages. Key unmetered applications include street lighting, telecommunications infrastructure and, increasingly, electric vehicle (EV) charge points.

Unmetered supplies (UMS) metering systems will be required to upgrade to half-hourly settlement as part of the forthcoming market wide half-hourly settlement (MHHS) rules. IMServ has already identified MHHS as a key strategic priority and aims to ease the transition for every sector of the market.

The acquisition of Power Data Associates will enable that goal and allow customers with both metered and unmetered requirements to meet their needs ‘under one roof.’ IMServ will be the only company to offer the full range of MHHS services across the metered and unmetered data services segment.

IMServ is backed by Bluewater, a global private equity firm for the energy transition.
