When it comes to fundraising, the staff at IMServ love to get behind their nominated charity Willen Hospice, presenting a cheque for £8,826 on 26 February 2013

The cheque was presented by Steve Brown, IMServ’s Managing Director to Elaine Johnson, Events and Community Fundraiser at the charity.

Willen Hospice is a registered charity that provides specialist care for people whose illness no longer responds to curative treatment. Patients receive care within the Hospice building itself but also within the community via its specialist community nursing teams. It focuses on four key areas: specialist symptom control, emotional support, spiritual support and care for carers.

As IMServ’s nominated charity for 2012, the staff were keen to help a local charity that makes such a difference in the community. The fundraising involved nine key events, from staff running the MK Marathon, undertaking the Three Peaks Challenge and the Midnight Moo, to a Christmas fayre and raffles, cake sales, a Jubilee bake off, and an Easter fun day. Some events involved the whole company, whilst others were individual staff undertaking their own challenges in their spare time.

Steve Brown, Managing Director at IMServ, said: “The staff have really got behind Willen Hospice, with the charity receiving a unanimous vote when we were deciding which local good cause to support in 2012. This support has now been extended for a further two years. There were lots of fundraising initiatives and staff have also supported the Hospice by donating toys, books, shoes and clothing.”

He continued, “IMServ has also given staff ‘time out’ to help out at the charity’s distribution centre, sorting clothes and generally understanding more about the hospice.”

Willen Hospice relies heavily on the generosity and support of businesses and the local community. Elaine Johnston explains, “Fundraising is vital to the survival of Willen Hospice and each year we have to raise more than £3 million in order to continue the provision of our specialist care. We are very grateful for the tremendous fundraising efforts of IMServ and delighted with the generous cheque they gave us. We really do appreciate the hard work and committment of all the staff at IMServ who have spent 12 months undertaking a range of fundraising activies.”
